Meet The Band
Come and see what we are all about.

Band History

The first Pipe Band in Coupar Angus was thought to have been in the late 19th century. The Boys Brigade also formed a band and this was used as a feeder band for the main town band.  For the duration of  World War 2 the band was disbanded. The first Pipe Major on record was Mr William Mason and then Pipe Major McDonald for a short time. Mr Robert Pitkeathly assumed control and the band grew to new heights of perfection, for he was a member of a very distinguished family in world of piping and a Pipe Major second to none. Andrew, his son, went on to become Director of Army Bagpipe Music and also personal piper to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II. The band went on from strength to strength but when he left for Blairgowrie Pipe Band in the 1950’s and could not be replaced the band folded.
There was no band in Coupar Angus until the 1970’s when T.L.B Apedaile formed a very successful Scout band but only for a short time.

The band was again formed in the year 2000 by our present Pipe Major Kevin Douglas and it is going strong to this day.
